I am such a fan I decided I am going to do a full series of ‘no-bake’ recipes, starting with these Chocolate Coconut Snow Balls!
One of the many things I love about these snowballs (besides the whole no-bake thing) is that they are jam-packed with lots of nutrients! If you take a look at the ingredient list it’s pretty obvious that these little balls are a GREAT choice when you’re looking for an easy healthy snack!
Healthy Fats:Coconut Flakes: There are multiple benefits of eating coconut, not only is it super filling because of its fat content, but it is also packed with lots of minerals and antioxidants. Chocolate is easily the number one comfort food in the world. From cake to ice cream people love to chow down on any form of chocolate, including the basic forms like cacao powder, not to be confused with standard cocoa powder. They may sound very similar but there are a lot of differences between the two. The main one being that cacao is less processed then it’s doppelganger cocoa.
They both start off the same, as cacao bean, in a pod, on a cacao tree. The pods are collected and cracked so the beans can be harvested and ground up. Once ground they remove the cacao butter leaving cacao powder. Cocoa is pretty much done the exact same way BUT it’s processed at a higher temperature and the beans are roasted. As a result of this cocoa has fewer calories but also fewer nutrients, antioxidants, and enzymes.

Benefits of Cacao

2: It’s great for your heart an…

Why Everyone Should Soak their Oats and How to Do it!

You like to lay back and have a soak, so do your oats. And your belly will thank you for it!Oats, particularly the steel cut, have blown up lately. Some people see them as super food well others say to stay away. Part of this split is because oats can be hard on the digestive tract much like any seed!
Seeds are meant to be hard to break down so they can survive and be grown into new plants so they block digestive enzymes with phytic acid. This acid can also bind to minerals and prevent their absorption as well!
Does This Mean I should Avoid Oats?
No! In my opinion, oats can be a great source of nutrients. Oats are an antioxidant that is also a good source of protein, fiber, and carbs, well also containing a large amount of vitamins and minerals like iron and magnesium.
So instead of omitting them we can simply give them an acid soak to make them more digestible!
The process of acid soaking overnight releases phytase which will breakdown the phytic acid!
Note: This is true for all seeds …
